Changing a Quiz into an Exam
If you've created a Quiz to later realize that you would rather turn it into an Exam, it is possible to use the export and import features to transform your Quiz in to an Exam.
However, please note that this method will still require a little bit of 'work'...
Here's what you should do:
To transfer your Quiz to the Exam section in our tool, you can just go and copy-paste the contents, or re-create the test in the other format.
However, if your Quiz contains many questions, you might find it useful to use the import- and export features that are available in our tool.
Just to set expectations here, please note that this will still require quite some 'work'... So make yourself a nice cup of coffee / tea & let me just walk you through the steps here 😎 :
Export the questions of your Quiz
You will find a button "Export questions" under "Questions" in the menu of your Quiz:
This will generate an .xlsx Excel file where the questions and answers are listed in rows. You have now 'extracted' the content of your test. 👍
Download the example-file for uploading questions to an Exam
If you go to the Exams-tab in your dashboard, you can create the new Exam by clicking the "+ New exam" - button and entering the name for your Exam.
Now you can find the template for importing questions to the Exam section under "Questions" > "Import Questions" in the menu of that Exam:
You can also download this example file here:
Re-arrange your export-file to make it match the structure of the import-file
You will notice that the structure of the import file for an Exam is different from that of the exported quiz-file. .... Here's where the work comes in. 😅
We recommend you to use the example-file for importing to create your own import-file. You should keep the top-row unchanged and list your questions in the rows beneath that, putting your data in the appropriate columns.
Per column, this is the information that is required:
Please enter the Questions here (one question per row)
Here you can enter the amount of points that you would like to give for this question when it's answered correctly
You can enter any of the answer-options here
Here you can enter an explanation (feedback) that can be shown after this answer was given by a user. (Please note that this is only available for Business Owl accounts and up)
If answer_x is correct you should enter a "1", if it's incorrect you should enter a "0"
Here you can enter a general explanation (feedback) for the question, which you can choose to show after a question is answered by a user.
Once you've added all the information, please save your file as a .csv-file:
Upload the file to your Exam
Go back to your Exam and go to "Questions" in the menu of your Exam. Click the button labelled "Import Questions". Choose your own file and click "Upload csv".
